Suffolk Coastal Debt Centre - Life Skills

People in East Suffolk who want to take control of their money are set to benefit from a free local budgeting course that teaches life changing skills to allow people to live well for less.

CAP Life Skills courses are held regularly in the Suffolk Coastal area.  If you would like to know when the next one is in your area, or if you would like to host one, please contact, Susan Rugg-Dunn, the CAP Life Skills course Manager.

Running for eight-weeks, the course gives people the confidence and decision-making skills to live well, look after themselves and feel positive, even if they are on a low income.

Susan said: “Living, as we do, in times when the price of so many essentials is increasing, Life Skills can help people cope more easily on a limited budget. It’s a series of lovely, relaxed sessions, where people can interact with each other and learn new skills which enable them to take control of their finances.

“We’ll be looking at lifting the pressure to spend and sharing some great practical tips to help people make their money go further.

“We’ll also be doing a big section on buying and cooking more wisely so we can help our families stay healthy on a budget. Towards the end of the course, we’ll spend some time on helping relationships – as these can have a big impact on how we treat our finances.”

A typical course runs for eight weeks from 10am – 1pm including lunch.

Susan Rugg-Gunn said: “Most of all, it will be time to share what works and what doesn’t, both as a group and one-to-one, and give each other encouragement to do things better. It will be some of those key things you wished they had taught you at school, but didn’t.

“We want to help people in Woodbridge and the surrounding area take back control of their money and live much happier lives, free of financial pressure.”
